GUIDELINES FOR HEALING
It must be noted that there is no easy path or easy way in healing. Jesus’healing for us was painful. We are His disciples and are to live as He did. Sometimes God does a “big, miraculous healing”. Sometimes God takes us through a long process. The most important thing to understand about healing is that God wants a relationship with us. He knows that if we were instantly healed, many of us would start to think we don’t need Him anymore. The greater our need for God, the better off we are. Yes, it is painful!! Oh, so painful!! But, it is the means that keeps us constantly drawing close to our Lord. If you ever feel that God is just a far off God who doesn’t care about your pain; just look at the cross. God has gone through every degree of pain, rejection, physical suffering, heart ache, abuse, and shame that any of us have. And to a greater degree. He understands and is with us in our healing. The following are some GUIDELINES for healing:
Embrace the “FIREBALL”in your heart. Draw deep down as much as you can and allow Jesus in. God doesn’t heal at the surface. He is the “Great Physician”. He goes down to the “core” of the problem which is usually confession of sin or unforgiveness. ·
Find people to share with who are mature, trustworthy, and caring. Be wise in your relationships. Unfortunately, wounded, dysfunctional people usually attract wounded, dysfunctional people. Step out and seek “healthy relationships” that nourish, encourage, and build you up. ·
Start a daily “PRAYER JOURNAL”. Take time each day to allow God to heal you as you write your prayers down on paper. Writing helps your mind not to wander. After you are done, read it – then destroy what you’ve written.
When you are in a lot of pain, take time to draw close to God even though it is painful. Breath slowly & deeply and focus on God in your heart. Prayer Journaling is also good to do at this point.
Do nourishing things. Don’t just stay in a mode of healing and pain. Go for walks, read a good book, go swimming, ride your bicycle, etc. God wants to give you time to rest for the next healing. ·
Minister to others. If you are feeling sorry for yourself, find someone who is “worse off” than you. ·
Mediate on healing Scriptures. Learn more about God’s compassion, love, and healing power. ·
Be wise in sharing your testimony of healing. Many times Christians ask “new converts” to share their testimony. The problem is that sometimes they share too much and end up feeling spiritually abused. Be wise and get guidance from mature Christians who have gone through healing. ·
Our time here is preparation for eternity. We are being healed and transformed into the likeness of Christ for eternity. This time here is but “a breath”. Learn to understand this and renew your mind. ·
God wants to restore the losses in our lives. But first He needs to prepare us to receive all His glorious riches. Having us mature as a Christian is God’s first goal. ·
It is okay to get angry but don't sin. David throughout the Psalms got angry. But he “wrote” his thoughts down no paper and never hurt someone else or himself. Write your anger on paper. Read it. Then throw the paper away. (Then read the Psalms “outloud”). ·
Allow yourself to GRIEVE your losses. You may start to cry for no reason. You may even feel depressed. It is alright. You are being healed. Your pain with in you from your past is coming out.
Be wise with prescription medicines. Read about the medication on the internet. Find out what they are treating, what the side effects will be, how long they plan on having you on the medication, whether or not it is addictive, how it will affect your healing process, etc. Get a few different doctors opinions. Find the balance between anti-medication people and people who give medications for everything. Remember, medications “mask” the problem – they don’t get to the root. But, sometimes they help stabilize a person until they can get their life balanced. BE WISE. A spiritual Christian doctor, who can explain the pros and cons of medications, would be wise to talk to.
Read Scripture that affirms who you are “in Christ”. You are God’s child and a blessing.·
God loves you. Meditate on this truth. Believe this truth. Listen to His voice about this truth.
DISCLAIMER: These are "layman" resources and guides for people seeking healing. This is NOT to be considered "professional" advice. In fact, we encourage individuals to find trusting Christian counseling and discipleship. This material is a “tool” to offer support. Individuals are responsible for their own healing and no one else. It is between you and God. Nobody knows you better than God. In no way does this teaching claim to replace professional counselors when needed. A professional Christian counselor is something that should be considered between God and the individual. Again, this book offers “laymen”resources for those wanting to grow in Christ.

Characteristics of Unbroken (Proud) and Broken (Humble) People
Nancy Leigh DeMoss contrasts characteristics of proud, unbroken people who are resistant to the call of God on their lives with the qualities of broken, humble people who have experienced God’s revival. Read each item on the list as you ask God to reveal which characteristics of a proud spirit He finds in your life. Confess these to Him, then ask Him to restore the corresponding quality of a broken, humble spirit in you. (Used by permission of Revive Our Hearts, P.O. “BREAKING GENERATIONAL SIN”
Father God, in the mighty name of Jesus, I come to You now and repent on behalf of my family line. Lord, whenever there was the sin of (name the sin) on my father’s or mother’s side, I repent of that sin on behalf of myself and my family, both on the (father’s family name) side and on the (mother’s family name) side. Whenever I or my ancestors yielded to this particular sin, even as far back as Adam, I ask You to forgive us as a family and to cleanse the family line of this sin by the Blood of Jesus. When ever You see an invisible soul-tie that connects me with any of those people who yielded to this sin, I now take a sword in the spirit and in the name of Jesus Christ and through the Blood of Jesus Christ I sever that connection in the spirit and I break every unholy soul-tie between myself and those previous generations. And I now place a river of the Blood of Jesus Christ and those generations and render myself free from any unholy influence. I also break any curse that has come to me or my children through generational sins and curses. In Jesus’ name and through His Blood, I ask you to turn the curses into blessings. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. (Pray this prayer when necessary, each time you identify a generational sin in your family).

INNER HEALING PRAYERS (4 pages): (DO TILL SET FREE)
HEALING (can be by yourself or with a Spirit-filled trained Christian)
PRAYER BEFORE YOU GET HEALING (always pray outloud):
“Dear Heavenly Father, I know that you want the truth from me, and I must be honest with You. I have been fooled by the father of lies, and I have fooled myself. I thought I
could hide from You, but You see everything. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that you Heavenly Father will rebuke all of Satan’s demons by Your power. Because I have asked Jesus into my life I am Your child. Therefore, I command all evil spirits to leave me. I ask the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth. I ask You to look right through me and know my heart. Show me if there is anything in me that I am trying to hide, because I want to be free. I thank You for Your kindness, and patience and love for me. I know that I have not been very loving and patient toward others, especially those who I don’t like. I have been thinking bad thoughts about other people, and storing bad feelings. I ask
You to bring to my mind those people that I need to forgive. I ask this in the wonderful name of Jesus who will heal me from my hurts. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray. Amen.”
1. FORGIVENESS (sets you free from the person. Must be done from the heart.
a) Make a list of names you need to forgive. Be sure you know that forgiving people who have hurt you is God’s way of setting you free from them. Unless we forgive, they still hurt us.
Names:
1. _________________
2. _________________
3. _________________
4. _________________
5. _________________
6. _________________
7. _________________
8. _________________
9. _________________
10. _________________
b) Now go through the list of names “separately” & “from the heart” saying, (Stay with the first person until all the remembered pain has surfaced and been forgiven, then go on to the next person).
“Lord, I thank You that, with Your power and help, I can forgive as You have forgiven me. I forgive (name) for (say every painful thing that you remember that was done to you). [Here are some words to help describe the painful emotions: “ashamed, unloved, terrible, embarrassed, silly, alone, dirty, ugly, helpless, used, hurt, scared, ……….”].
Lord, I now give (name) to You so You can deal with him/her the way You want to. I don’t want (name) to have power over me anymore. I forgive (name) and give him/her to You. Thank You for setting me free. I am free. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
c) FORGIVING GOD (VERY IMPORTANT): You may also need to forgive God. When we expect God to act in a certain way and He doesn’t we can get angry. Those feelings can become a wall between us and God, so we must let them go.
“Father God, I always thought You (tell what you thought about God). I’m sorry I was wrong. Please forgive me. I now know that You love me, accept me, and want good for me. You are a loving and caring Father. Thank You for forgiving me. I am so thankful for Your forgiveness and love. I love You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
d) Forgive yourself. Forgiving yourself means accepting God’s cleansing and forgiveness. (The following are words to describe the painful emotions: ashamed, unloved, embarrassed, terrible, silly, alone, dirty, ugly, helpless, used……….)
“Lord, I forgive myself for (specify every painful thing that you remember that you did to yourself or thought about yourself)”. Lord, I accept Your cleansing and forgiveness. I thank You that You have made me clean and You have forgiven me. I am Your child and You love me deeply. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.”
2. REBELLION: pray the following prayer aloud:
“Dear Heavenly Father, You have said in the Bible that rebellion is the same thing as witchcraft, and disobedience is like honoring other gods. I know that I have disobeyed and rebelled in my heart against You and others that You have put in authority over me. I ask for Your forgiveness for my rebellion, and by the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ I
resist all evil spirits who took advantage of my rebellion. In Jesus’ Matchless Name I pray. Amen.”
3. SELFISHNESS: pray the following prayer aloud:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I confess that I have thought only of myself. Many times I don’t think of others. I have believed that I am the only one who cares about me, so I have to take care of myself. I have turned away from You, and not let You love me. I am tired of living for myself and by myself. I renounce the self-life, and ask that You fill me with Your
Spirit so that I can do Your will. By giving my heart to You, I stand against all the ways that Satan would attack me. I ask You to show me how to live for others. I now choose to make others more important than myself, and You the most important of all. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
4. CONFESS YOUR SINS: pray the following prayer aloud for each sin:
“Dear Heavenly Father, I agree with You that I have done displeasing acts and sinned. I ask You to help me to know all the things that I have done which are wrong.’
“Lord, I confess that I have committed the sin of ______________. Thank You for Your forgiveness and cleansing. I now turn away from this sin and turn to You, Lord. Strengthen me by Your Holy Spirit to obey You. I now command Satan to leave me, and I choose to live the right kind of life so that I can be free by Your Holy Spirit’s power. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Stealing, Quarreling/fighting, Jealousy/envy, Complaining/criticism, Sarcasm, Lustful actions/thoughts, Gossip/slander, Swearing, Apathy/laziness, Lying, Hatred, Anger,
Pornography, Drunkenness, Cheating, Procrastination, Greed/materialism, Not tithing, Gambling (bingo, etc.), Others: ________, _____________, ________________
5. BONDAGE: (Pray the necessary prayers below until set free. You may have to go back daily)
As the Lord brings to your mind every wrong sexual use of your body, whether it was done to you –rape, incest, sexual molestation –or willingly by you (including
pornography, masturbation, sexual immorality, beastiality), renounce every occasion:
“Lord, I renounce (name the specific use of your body) with (name any other person involved) and I ask You to break that sinful bond with (name). In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I command that all demonic strongholds and other spiritual garbage passed onto me through relationships in which I was sexually, emotionally, spiritually, or mentally bonded to ____________ (names) in a sinful way be cancelled, and that the demons connected with each of them go to the Lord Jesus Christ, now and never come back to me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
After you have finished, commit your body to the Lord by praying:
“Lord, I renounce all these uses of my body as an instrument of unrighteousness and I admit to my wilful participation. I choose now to present my eyes, mouth, mind, heart, hands, feet and sexual organs to You as instruments of righteousness. I present my whole body to You as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable, and I choose to reserve the sexual use of my body for marriage only.” (Heb.13:4).
“I reject the lie that my body is not clean or that it is dirty or in any way unacceptable to You as a result of my past sexual experiences. Lord, thank You that You have totally cleansed and forgiven me and that You love and accept me just the way I am. Therefore, I choose now to accept myself and my body as clean in Your eyes. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen”. (see Isaiah 1:18)
NOW PRAY THROUGH THESE DIFFERENT AREAS FROM THE HEART IF YOU DESIRE FREEDOM:
(may need to do a few times or in the future):
Pornography
“Lord Jesus, I confess that I have looked at sexually suggestive/explicit and pornographic material for the purpose of stimulating myself sexually. I have attempted to satisfy my lustful desires and polluted my body, soul, and spirit. Thank You for cleansing me and for Your forgiveness. I renounce all satanic bonds I have allowed in my life through the unrighteous use of my body and mind. Lord, I commit myself to destroy any objects in my possession that I have used for sexual stimulation and to turn away from all media that are associated with my sexual sin. I commit myself to the renewing of my mind and to think pure thoughts. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I may not carry out the desires of
the flesh. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Divorce
“Lord, I confess to You any part that I played in my divorce (ask the Lord to show you specifics). Thank You for Your forgiveness, and I choose to forgive myself as well. I renounce the lie that my identity is now in “being divorced.” I am a child of God, and I reject the lie that says I am a second-class Christian because of the divorce. I reject the lie that says I am worthless, unlovable, and that my life is empty and meaningless. I am complete in Christ, Who loves me and accepts me just as I am. Lord, I commit the healing of all hurts in my life to You as I have chosen to forgive those who have hurt me. I also place my future into Your hands and trust You to provide the human companionship You
created me to need through Your Church and, if it be Your will, through another spouse. I pray all this in the healing name of Jesus, my Savior, Lord, and closest friend. Amen.”
Homosexuality
“Lord, I renounce the lie that You have created me or anyone else to be homosexual and I agree that in Your Word You clearly forbid homosexual behaviour. I choose to accept myself as a child of God and I thank You that You created me as a man (woman). I renounce all homosexual thoughts, urges, drives and acts, and cancel out all ways that Satan has used these things to pervert my relationships. I announce that I am free in Christ to relate to the opposite sex and my own sex in the way that You intended. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Abortion
“Lord, I confess that I was not a proper guardian & keeper of the life You entrusted to me and I admit that as sin. Thank You that because of Your forgiveness, I can forgive myself. I recognize the child is in Your caring hands for all eternity. Thank you for setting me free of my shame. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Suicidal Tendencies
“Lord, I renounce all suicidal thoughts and any attempts I’ve made to take my own life or in any way injure myself. I renounce the lie that life is hopeless and that I can find peace and freedom by taking my own life. Satan is a thief and comes to steal, kill and destroy. I choose life in Christ, who said He came to give me life and give it abundantly (John 10:10). Thank You for Your forgiveness which allows me to forgive myself. I choose to believe that there is always hope in Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Victimization: (always playing the victim & not accepting God’s blessings and walking in them)
“In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I renounce the lie of Satan that I am still a victim of my past or present circumstances. The truth is that I am a child of God, unconditionally loved by Him and He has set me free to become the person HE intends for me to be. I announce that in Christ I can be victorious at all times and I choose to act like a beloved child of God, not like Satan’s victim. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Drivenness and Perfectionism
“Lord, I renounce the lie that my self-worth is dependent upon my ability to perform. I announce the truth that my identity and sense of worth is found in who I am as Your child. I renounce seeking the approval and acceptance of other people, and I choose to believe that I am already approved and accepted in Christ because of His death and resurrection for me. I choose to believe the truth that I have been saved, not by deeds done in righteousness, but according to Your mercy. I choose to believe that I am no longer under the curse of the law because Christ became a curse for me. I receive the free gift of life in Christ and choose to abide in Him. I renounce striving for perfection by living under the law. By Your grace, Heavenly Father, I choose from this day forward to walk by faith in the power of Your Holy Spirit according to what You have said is true. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Eating Disorders and Self-Mutilation
“Lord, I renounce the lie that my value as a person is dependent upon my appearance or performance. I renounce cutting or abusing myself, vomiting, using laxatives, diet pills, or starving myself as a means of being in control, altering my appearance or cleansing myself of evil. I announce that only the blood of the Lord Jesus cleanses me from sin. I realize I have been bought with a price and my body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, belongs to God. Therefore, I choose to glorify God in my body. I renounce the lie that I am evil or that any part of my body is evil. Thank You that You accept me just the way I am in Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.”
Substance Abuse
Lord, I confess that I have misused substances (alcohol, tobacco, food, prescription or street drugs) for the purpose of pleasure, to escape reality or to cope with difficult problems. I confess that I have abused my body and programmed my mind in a harmful way. I have quenched the Holy Spirit as well. Thank You for forgiving me. I renounce any satanic connection or influence in my life through my misuse of food or chemicals. I cast my anxieties on to Christ Who loves me. I commit myself to yield no longer to the abuse of substances, but instead I choose to allow the Holy Spirit to direct, empower me. In Jesus’name, Amen
After you have confessed all known sin, pray:
“Lord, I now confess these sins to You and claim through the blood of the Lord Jesus my forgiveness and cleansing. I cancel out all ground that evil spirits have gained through my willful and unwilling involvement in sin. I pray this in the wonderful name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.”

STEPS TO FREEDOM IN CHRIST (MARRIAGE)

Amen.”
